New Trees for City Park Arboretum

This spring, the District implemented the second phase of tree planting for the City Park Arboretum, funded by the Maine Forest Service Project Canopy. District staff and volunteers planted 10 new trees, including native Maine conifers, oaks, and understory trees such as ironwood, witch hazel and moosewood trees. We are also finalizing our guide to the arboretum and a new map and brochure. The park is a great place to learn to identify trees and appreciate their role in nature and for the people of Maine. The park also contains interesting non-native trees from near and far. Stop by and see the Midcoast’s only arboretum, our District’s flagship project for the Forests for Our Future program.
